Public safety is the foundation of a thriving community. Having spent time on ride-alongs with our local police department, assisted our fire department in securing a grant for 5 AED's, and building relationships with first responders, I know firsthand the challenges they face and the support they need. As a former EMT, I have always prioritized safety in my professional life and deeply understand the importance of having well-equipped, well-supported public safety services.
Goals:
- Ensure our police and fire departments have the resources and training needed to protect our community.
- Advocate for stronger collaboration between public safety agencies and residents, fostering trust and communication.
- Promote programs that enhance neighborhood safety and emergency preparedness.
A strong local economy benefits everyone. My work as Executive Director of the Minnesota American Indian Chamber of Commerce has shown me the value of supporting small businesses and fostering sustainable growth. I have met with local business owners and met with city employees to help find ways to drive economic development and believe that the success of our local businesses directly impacts the vitality of our community.
Goals:
- Create an environment where local businesses can thrive by reducing unnecessary barriers and promoting business-friendly policies.
- Work with the Chamber of Commerce and local entrepreneurs to attract new businesses while supporting the growth of existing ones.
- Encourage collaboration between the city and business community to ensure our economy remains strong and resilient.
Ramsey’s rural character is what makes our city unique, and it's one of the reasons why I chose to live here. As a resident committed to preserving this charm, I want to ensure we strike a balance between development and conservation. This means carefully managing growth while protecting our green spaces, farmland, and natural beauty.
Goals:
- Advocate for responsible development that aligns with the community’s vision and protects our rural landscape.
- Support initiatives that preserve open spaces and farmland, ensuring future generations can enjoy the natural beauty of Ramsey.
- Work with residents to incorporate their input into zoning and land use decisions, prioritizing thoughtful, sustainable growth.
Every resident’s voice matters, and I am committed to being a responsive and approachable leader. Throughout my career and volunteer work, I have been a consistent advocate for families and children, serving on the boards of organizations like the American Indian Family Center and Minnesota Children's Alliance. I have always believed in building relationships across the community to understand and address the needs of our residents.
Goals:
- Hold regular town halls and community forums to listen to residents’ concerns and gather input on key decisions.
- Ensure that city policies and decisions reflect the needs of all residents, from families to small business owners.
- Promote transparency and accessibility in local government, making it easier for residents to stay informed and get involved.
